Airborne Position Reference Tool (APRT)

Bun, TypeScript, Svelte, Mapbox, Websocket, Elysia, AWS

LeadingProductSuccess-0-image-0LeadingProductSuccess-0-image-1
Many air traffic control towers monitor airspace with limited tools including radio communication, binoculars, and unreliable ADS-B traffic visual reference tools such as FlightRadar24. APRT is a closed hardware and software system designed to give air traffic controllers visual awareness of all ADS-B out equipped aircraft flying below 6,500 feet. This is the only approved market solution to standardize airspace surveillance at underequipped towers included in the FAA’s efforts to modernize air traffic control systems.

As the lead engineer, I collaborated with stakeholders and adhered to strict requirements culminating in a presentation and demonstration in front of FAA decision makers for system verification.

Surface Awareness Initiative (SAI)

Bun, Svelte, Mapbox, Websocket, Elysia, AWS

Airfield surface awareness safety became one of the FAA’s top priorities in response to a 61% increase in near mid-air collisions since 2019. Consequently, the FAA rolled out an initiative to build affordable and reliable ground surveillance technology applicable to ill-equipped domestic control towers.

As one of only three companies to win the contract, my team developed the product and was awarded installation at 69 airports across the United States including Indianapolis, Austin, and Tampa international airports. The system operates with three 9s of availability and is cloud monitored 24/7.

AV-30 QR Code Unlock

Node, TypeScript, Express, AWS

LeadingProductSuccess-2-image-0
This cloud web server generates a unique code to unlock firmware add-ons available for purchase via a QR code in collaboration with the AV-30 product line.

The AV-30’s loaded firmware binary contains special characters that are deciphered with a cryptography library to generate the unlock code. The server matches the firmware version with the binary file stored in AWS s3 to use in the deciphering step.

Admin Tools Suite

Bun, TypeScript, Svelte, Zig, Elysia, AWS, Postgres, REST

An internal technical support tool to monitor real-time hardware asset health installed at over 75 individual airports for irregularities and offline events.

Each airport includes 12 or more physical radios or computers that report metrics to the admin server via a persistent websocket connection.
These metrics are cached into postgres for retrieval via a REST API. The web user interface makes these logs useful via graphical data visualization techniques.
Finally, the admin tools suite supports maintenance windows, configuration changes, aircraft type customization, and user roles in a one-stop-shop airport management dashboard integrated with Zoho, Git, and Bitwarden APIs.

$500,000 in 6 Months

If a 19 year old asked for your $33,000 insurance check, would you give it to him?

I sat across the table 29 times and asked for the check. I left with the check 29 times. For six months, during COVID, I studied and practiced various selling techniques through full sales cycle ownership and delivering on expectations. Before returning back to college, I had generated over half a million dollars in revenue and subsequently funded my education.

$1,000,000 Missing Payments Recovered

DrivingRevenue-2-image-0
In the insurance restoration business, three points of loss exist when money is due:
  1. The insurance company
  2. The policy holder
  3. The construction company’s internal management
When the insurance company receives the invoice, often they will incorrectly determine they already paid for a line item. In response, the sales contractor must cross reference pages of insurance paperwork with collected payments to find what is missing. With one contractor having dozens of jobs and the small five person office team managing hundreds of jobs, there isn't enough time or care to manually find the missing money, so the construction company never collects, thus eating the losses.

The Roof Tracker app automatically identifies what’s missing and generates a report that can be forwarded to the insurance adjuster. Over the course of three years, the Roof Tracker has been credited with finding over $1 million in missing payments.
Product Development

React.js, CSS, Firebase - Cloud Firestore

A web-based admin dashboard designed to complement the Roof Tracker iOS app, both share a unified database for data synchronization to provide real-time account balance data to field sales contractors as they collect payments. Administrators can view and manage their team’s files with the dashboard feature available only on the web.

Business Startup Competition - 1st Place

DrivingRevenue-3-image-0
A three day competition focused on building a business from scratch.

After presenting ideas and forming teams, we worked intensively to develop a viable business model, culminating in a live presentation to a panel of judges.

The competition provided hands-on experience in what it takes to launch a business, from concept, to sales strategy, to first customer.

My team secured 1st place.

Door to Door Prospecting

At age 16, I began door-to-door sales, introducing homeowners to storm restoration services and setting appointments as a lead generator. This hands-on experience was my introduction to sales, where I honed my prospecting skills and learned how to effectively engage potential customers with my persuasive "Super Bowl commercial" effectively demonstrating the value of setting an appointment by answering the 3Ws:

Who are you?
What do you want?
Why should I care?

In my third summer, I knocked on 4,985 doors, spoke to 2,046 homeowners, held 638 conversations, and successfully closed 207 appointments.

FrisAssist & LadderSling - 2nd place

CustomerAcquisition-1-image-0CustomerAcquisition-1-image-1
University-wide entrepreneurship competition in which participants submit a video presenting a fictional company for a panel of judges.

FrisAssist helps frisbee golfers locate lost discs after a misthrow into the woods or brush.

LadderSling solves acute back pain associated with transporting a telescopic ladder, an all-too-common issue in the contracting business.

I was awarded 2nd place for both entries.

Craft Cocktail Bartender

Mastered the art of upselling and sharpened my presentation skills by directing guests to higher quality, more expensive menu items by focusing on the perceived value. I frequently won the weekly sales competition by thinking quickly under pressure and connecting with guests which helped me exceed expectations in a fast-paced environment.
